    QUOTES OF THE MONTH

"If God were real, he wouldn't care if you believed in him, and it would be his fault if you didn't, so you're not going to go to Hell if you don't. It's the people who want to impose and reinforce their delusion and then use that to control you, who promise a posthumous paradise they'll never have to produce and who threaten you with a fate worse than death if you're not credulous enough to swallow that first lie. In reality, the only thing in the universe that needs and wants your faith is a bad liar. Real things neither desire nor require faith, and continue to exist regardless without it.” ~AronRa

      COMMENTARY

(Dan Mazer’s news and opinions not necessarily related to BanjerDan)

STEVE MARTIN’S SONG THAT DESCRIBES MY LIFE

I remember hearing most of these jokes on Steve Martin’s live album from around 1975. Watch around the 3:00 mark, as he demonstrates some really impressive banjo “technique” as he sings these words:

“But you know,

There are people who go to college for 14 years,

Studying to be doctors and lawyers.

And I see people getting up at 7:30 in the mornin’

Goin’ to work in the drugstore to sell Flair pens.

But the most amazing thing to me

Is that I get paid for doing this.”

And that, My Friends, is why Steve Martin is THE MAN!

    SCIENCE IS COOL!

        POLITICS/CULTURE

“Stupidity is a more dangerous enemy of the good than malice. One may protest against evil; it can be exposed and, if need be, prevented by use of force. Evil always carries within itself the germ of its own subversion in that it leaves behind in human beings at least a sense of unease. Against stupidity we are defenseless. Neither protests nor the use of force accomplish anything here; reasons fall on deaf ears; facts that contradict one’s prejudgment simply need not be believed – in such moments the stupid person even becomes critical – and when facts are irrefutable they are just pushed aside as inconsequential, as incidental. In all this the stupid person, in contrast to the malicious one, is utterly self satisfied and, being easily irritated, becomes dangerous by going on the attack. For that reason, greater caution is called for when dealing with a stupid person than with a malicious one. Never again will we try to persuade the stupid person with reasons, for it is senseless and dangerous.” ―Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Letters and Papers from Prison

Dietrich Bonhoeffer was born in Breslau in 1906. The son of a famous German psychiatrist, he studied in Berlin and New York City. He left the safety of America to return to Germany and continue his public repudiation of the Nazis, which led to his arrest in 1943. Linked to the group of conspirators whose attempted assassination of Hitler failed, he was hanged in April 1945.

"There's only one science. Of all the cultural aspects of humanity, the only one which is not broken up into national or regional splinters, is science. Different nations have different languages; they may have different religions, may have different dietaries, different holidays, different ways of thinking, but there's only one science.

"In other words, the laws of nature that are discovered by an Englishman, or by a German, or by an American, work in Nigeria and Indonesia, and everywhere else. And when the Chinese or Japanese join in modern science, they do what we do. They do science as we do. There's only one science. It's the only thing that encompasses all of man. ~Issac Asimov

    THE MODERN CONSPIRACY THEORISTS

I think it was in a junior high school history class that I learned about the Teapot Dome scandal, and how President Theodore Roosevelt and the “Trust Busters” broke up the monopolies that had dominated and corrupted the U.S. economy and politics in the late 19th Century, It was presented as a great victory for the people freedom, and I agreed with that but also thought, “Those people didn’t just go away. What happened then?”

About 20 years ago, I saw “The Money Masters,” which explains in detail how fractional reserve banking, aka “the debt money scam” and how it’s worked to enrich

One of the main reasons I don't take the conspiracy theories as seriously as I used to is that most of the people making the claims somehow believe that Trump is against the globalists, when if you actually follow the theories, you'd conclude that Trump is exactly the useful idiot/gangster boss that the "true elites" would put in charge. Also, a lot of them are flat earthers and creationists and thus hard to take seriously.
